We are proud to share our recent collaboration with renowned interior design studio Sims Hilditch for WOW!house 2025, where we were invited to help bring to life their vision for The Modern Boot Room – The Courtyard Room. The result is a striking showcase of handcrafted, bespoke English furniture at its finest, combining practicality with beauty in a suite of back-of-house spaces designed to delight.

A Modern Interpretation of the British Country House

Sims Hilditch, known for their elegant British interiors rooted in the Cotswold's countryside, designed The Courtyard Room as a rear entrance suite for a young family of four (plus their beloved Fox Terrier, Astrid). Their brief was clear: this should be a practical yet luxurious retreat that works hard for everyday family life — a celebration of spaces like boot rooms, dog rooms, and utility areas that are often the unsung heroes of the home.

We were thrilled to contribute to this vision by crafting three central elements:

The Bespoke Boot Room Cabinetry

Our team created the custom-made cabinetry that defines the boot room space. Designed to accommodate muddy boots, garden gear, sports equipment and more, every piece was made using traditional joinery techniques and premium solid timber. The finish is both durable and beautiful — an essential blend for any well-used country home. This space exemplifies our ethos: that practical furniture can and should be exquisitely made.

The Dog Room Cabinetry

The adjacent dog room features purpose-built cabinetry and storage solutions tailored for family pets. From built-in beds to clever shelving for leashes, towels and treats, this room reflects both Sims Hilditch’s thoughtful design and our commitment to creating bespoke English furniture that serves real lives. Every detail was considered — not only for visual harmony, but for comfort and function too.

The Centerpiece: A Handcrafted Marble Table

Standing at the heart of the rear entrance hall is a custom-made solid oak table, designed as a modern take on a traditional draper’s table. Completely crafted in our Suffolk workshop, with hand turned legs, solid oak drawers and finished in timeless French polish, giving it a stately presence while allowing the honed Calacatta Apuanao marble top to shine. The drawers are ideal for keys, post, and other everyday essentials, while the lower shelf is perfect for wellies, baskets or even a floral display — a beautiful and practical anchor to the space.

Craftsmanship Meets Contemporary Living

This collaboration showcases the timeless value of handcrafted, custom English furniture in today’s homes. As Sims Hilditch put it, “Every room is equally important” and we believe the same. Whether it’s a grand kitchen or a humble boot room, our furniture is made to elevate everyday routines through thoughtful design and enduring quality.

Our work at WOW!house 2025 is a celebration of that principle — blending our heritage in fine furniture making with the forward-thinking vision of one of Britain’s most respected design studios.
