Bespoke Karelian Birch furniture

Karelian Birch furniture is crafted using one of the most distinctive and rare burrs in the world. Although birch is grown all over Finland, it’s the unique soils of the small area of Karelia that give Karelian Birch its beautiful grain. Recognised by Finnish craftsmen in the 18th century, the birch burr has been used for the world’s most covetable furniture ever since. Tightly controlled felling and the fact that it can only be harvested in mid-winter when the ground is frozen, make it a rare wood used for premium pieces of furniture, but it is also sustainable. 

Our bespoke Karelian Birch furniture is available in two distinctive finishes: standard antiqued, and natural, the latter of which perfectly showcases the beauty of the burr.
