From tiny acorns...
Titchmarsh & Goodwin’s reputation as Britain’s finest cabinetmaker comes from its control over every stage of production. Having managed their own woodlands at Edwardstone in Suffolk, they then developed their own tree nursery, choosing the finest specimens that will produce the furniture of not just the twenty-first, but the twentysecond century.

They always select standing timber from mature British woodlands, mainly in East Anglia, working with landowners to the highest forestry standards. They insist that their timber originates from sustainable sources and buy UKWAS and FSC certificated logs.

Titchmarsh & Goodwin own sawmills at the nearby village of Witnesham. Timber is cut and air dried in the time-honoured fashion in the open, generally allowing a summer’s drying for every inch of a plank’s thickness, plus one year. So a two-inch thick plank requires three years standing. To make absolutely sure that the timber can resist the stresses imposed by modern air conditioning, it is then placed in a low temperature vacuum kiln for anything up to six days.
